Welcome to Build Gravity. I'm James and this site is my way of sharing the knowledge and experience I have had the unplanned tenacity to have learned whilst blindly meandering and mostly blagging my way through my six plus decades on this planet. This site covers an eclectic mix of topics, interests, projects and sometimes nonsensical ramblings. You will mostly find information, articles and resources relating to technology, simple living and frugality, personal privacy and creating personal and financial independence. The site is a constant work in progress project and I'm constantly adding new content to the site which I hope you will find both interesting and informative.

On this site you will find zero AI content. Everything good, bad, ugly and otherwise has been hand crafted by me a real human with unique thoughts, perspectives and experiences.

Keeping Truth, Freedom and Independence Alive
With the proliferation of commercialism and consumption, fake news and global governments imposing increasingly repressive regimes of command and control upon us, I believe now more than ever that going back to the very roots of the internet vision defined by pioneers like J.C.R Licklider and later Tim Berners-Lee and others. is essential for protecting out future our liberty, freedom and independence.
In that spirit this site is about free contribution and sharing without commercialisation, monetisation or hidden agendas. I don't want your email address, your money or to invade your privacy,liberty or freedom in anyway. There's NO cookies, ads, analytics or tracking of any kind here. This site is my contribution to the "Small Web" where learning, free thinking, creating new ideas, and living as freely and as independently as possible is both promoted and protected so much as is possible.
Why Build Gravity?
Build Gravity is a term I created many years ago and it simply means being able to increase your knowledge, self-worth and capability through continual learning and application and in doing so become a person of "Gravity".
SimplyText
SimplyText is a small simple text editor web app project that I hand coded for my own use. it's far from perfect, is work in progress and I'm constantly adding and tweaking the functionality but I have added to this site "as-is"for anyone to freely use. You can get more details here
Minimal Design
You will notice that my site is plain and simple and that's by design. The main design philosophy is to keep things minimal and distraction free and where possible compliant to web standards. For the more technical visitors the main site is HTML only, no frameworks, CSS or JavaScript with the exception of my free web apps. Graphics and media are only used where required to share content. I hope you appreciate my no frills, back to basics design ethic.
